Don’t Waste the Hard Truth

A trusted friend tells you something you don’t want to hear. Maybe you’ve been short with your family or haven’t followed through on your word. Before they finish, you’re already gathering your defense. You remember everything you’ve done right and wonder why they had to mention the one thing you got wrong. But later, when the conversation grows quiet in your mind, their words still linger. Beneath the sting, you recognize something that needs your attention.
Proverbs 12:1 speaks plainly because refusing correction can keep us trapped in what we need to change. Receiving it takes humility, especially when we meant well. As we follow Jesus, we learn to let truth reach the places our pride would rather protect. You can acknowledge a wrong without letting it define you, apologize without adding an excuse, and begin doing better with God’s help. When honest correction exposes something real, stay with it long enough to grow. The hard truth you receive today may spare someone you love another hurt tomorrow.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, help me listen when truth is difficult to hear. Give me humility to admit where I’m wrong and courage to change. Let my response reflect the love of Jesus.
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
