You Can Stop Running

October 21, 2026
A man sits on the edge of his bed with his head bowed and hands clasped in prayer, reflecting on God's forgiveness. The image features 1 John 1:9, reminding us that God faithfully forgives and cleanses those who confess their sins.

The guilt from a bad decision can follow you around. Maybe it was something you said in anger, a promise you broke, or a decision you knew wasn’t right. Life keeps moving, and on the outside everything looks normal. But every now and then, in a quiet moment, it comes back. You remember what happened, and you wish you could change it. Sometimes the hardest part isn’t admitting you were wrong. It’s believing you can actually be forgiven.

The apostle John reminds us that God doesn’t ask us to hide our sins or pretend they never happened. He calls us to confess them. And through Jesus Christ, forgiveness isn’t something we have to earn by punishing ourselves long enough. It’s a gift made possible by His sacrifice. That doesn’t erase the consequences of our choices or the responsibility to make things right. But it does mean our past doesn’t have to keep us separated from God. Whatever you’ve been carrying, bring it honestly before Him. You don’t have to keep running from the One who offers you forgiveness.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Good God, You know the things I’ve done wrong and the regrets I still carry. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to hide instead of coming to You. Help me turn away from what is wrong, trust in the forgiveness Jesus made possible, and walk forward with a heart made new.

In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
