Before You Say Yes

The email says yes. After weeks of checking your phone and wondering whether anything would happen, there it is. You call someone you love. You finally let yourself get excited. Then you learn a little more, and the questions begin. Saying yes would mean making a compromise you never expected to make. You reread the message, hoping you misunderstood. You’ve prayed for an opportunity like this. Walking away now would hurt, and you’re already wondering how you would explain it.
This is where trusting God becomes critical. Proverbs 3:5–6 reaches into that moment when your heart wants something badly enough to excuse what it requires. You can bring Him both things: the desire and the concern. He knows what this meant to you. Following Jesus may mean asking a difficult question, refusing a dishonest condition, or releasing something you hoped was the answer. You may grieve that choice but trust doesn’t require you to pretend otherwise. It asks you to place even this disappointment in God’s hands and keep walking with Him. The yes you hoped to hear never has to cost you the obedience you already know He asks of you.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, I wanted this, and You know why. Help me face what I need to see, even when it hurts. Give me courage to follow Jesus with an honest heart and trust You with what I may have to release.
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
