When You Need Courage for Today
Some days ask for courage before they ask for anything else. You may need courage to face a conversation, begin again after disappointment, make a hard decision, or step into a responsibility that feels bigger than you.
Joshua 1:9 says, βBe strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.β
God spoke those words to Joshua as he stepped into a huge assignment. Moses was gone. The people needed leadership. The future carried both promise and battle. Joshua had reason to feel the weight of it.
But God did not tell him to be courageous because the road would be easy. He told him to be courageous because the Lord would be with him.
That is the foundation of Christian courage. It is not personality. It is not pretending. It is not a loud confidence that never trembles. Courage is moving forward in obedience because Godβs presence is more real than your fear.
Fear often tries to make the future look like a locked door. It whispers that you are not ready, not strong enough, not capable, not safe. But Godβs promise cuts through the fog: I am with you.
The presence of God does not mean every challenge disappears. It means you do not face the challenge alone. The Lord goes with His people into difficult rooms, hard conversations, uncertain seasons, and unfamiliar responsibilities.
Maybe courage for you today is not dramatic. Maybe it is getting out of bed and trying again. Maybe it is telling the truth. Maybe it is apologizing. Maybe it is making the appointment, starting the work, or refusing to let fear make the decision.
Courage often looks smaller than we imagine. It can be one obedient step taken with a shaking heart.
If you need courage today, do not wait until you feel fearless. Bring your fear to God and walk with Him anyway. Courage grows as trust takes the next step.
The same God who strengthened Joshua is still faithful. You are not walking into today empty-handed. You go with the presence, help, and faithfulness of the Lord.
Closing Encouragement
Courage is not built on the absence of fear. It is built on the presence of God. Take the next step knowing He goes with you.
Prayer
Lord, give me courage for today. Help me not be ruled by fear or discouragement. Remind me that You are with me wherever I go, and strengthen me to take the next faithful step. In Jesusβ name, Amen.

Courage for today is enough. I do not need to feel fearless about everything ahead; I only need to trust God with the step in front of me.
