The God Who Sings After the Bad News

October 30, 2026
Zephaniah 3:17 in dark text on a white wall above the back of an olive-green couch.

Picture sitting in Jerusalem while Zephaniah preached. For two and a half chapters he’s telling you God is going to search the city with lanterns, and all you can think about is the thing you hoped He’d miss. Then you get to chapter 3, and God has already taken away the judgment against His people. When it comes to how He actually feels about them, He doesn’t say a word about what they did. He says He’s moved in, He’s glad, and He’s singing.

That’s how God deals with people who already know they’ve blown it. He doesn’t pretend it didn’t happen, but He doesn’t stand in the doorway holding it over you either. He’s already in the room, and instead of a lecture, you get a song. You walked in expecting to be judged, but all along He’s been there singing.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Father, I’ve spent a lot of time bracing for the hammer. Thank You for being the God who moves in and sings instead. Quiet the fear I keep replaying, and help me believe You’re glad I’m here.

In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.

STAND FIRM TODAY

Today, the next time your mind drifts back to the thing you’ve been dreading, say it out loud: ‘God is in the room, and He’s glad I’m here.’ Say it as many times as it takes.
