When the Plan Changes

October 6, 2026
Winding road through autumn-covered mountains at sunrise, with Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his course, but God directs his steps.”

You had the day figured out. Then a phone call changed the schedule, something fell through, or a simple task turned into an afternoon of problems. Now you’re frustrated, watching the clock and thinking about everything you should have finished by now. It’s hard to let go of a plan you worked carefully to make, especially when you can’t see how the change will turn out.

Proverbs 16:9 reminds us that we can make plans while trusting God with the steps ahead. Planning is wise, but we cannot control every outcome. When something changes, we can bring our disappointment to Him and ask for wisdom before frustration decides our response. You don’t have to call every setback a blessing or understand why it happened. You can trust that God remains faithful in the middle of it. Take a breath, look at what is still yours to do, and take that next step with Him.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Father, You know the plans I made and why they mattered to me. When things change, help me bring You my frustration and listen for Your wisdom. Give me patience with interruptions and courage to take the next faithful step.

In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
