You’ve Carried This Long Enough

October 7, 2026
Morning sunlight falls across a kitchen counter with a ceramic mug and dish towel, with Ephesians 4:32 about kindness and forgiveness displayed at the center.

You’re washing dishes when something reminds you of what they said. Before you know it, you’re having that conversation again in your head, explaining your side to someone who isn’t even in the room. You remember every word, and the hurt feels fresh again. Part of you is still waiting for them to understand what they did. But replaying it hasn’t brought the apology or peace you hoped for. It has only brought the hurt back.

Paul calls us to forgive by pointing us to the forgiveness God has given us in Christ. His grace gives us a place to begin when letting go feels hard. You can name the wrong honestly, keep wise boundaries, and still ask God to help you release the desire to make that person pay. Forgiveness may take repeated prayer, especially when the memory keeps coming back. Each time, you can bring the hurt to Jesus and ask Him to guide your steps, light your path. The person who hurt you does not have to change before you excercise the mercy Christ has shown you.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Good God, You know what happened and how deeply it hurt. Help me forgive as You have forgiven me in Christ. When the memory returns, guide me away from bitterness and toward Your mercy. Give me wisdom for my boundaries and a tender heart that remains open to You.

In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.

STAND FIRM TODAY

Bring one lingering hurt to God. Tell Him honestly what you’re struggling to release, and ask for His help to take one step toward forgiveness today.
