You Know What You Need to Do

October 24, 2026
A worn travel bag beside an open front door, with the Scripture excerpt “He went out, not knowing where he went.” — Hebrews 11:8.

You’ve thought about making that call several times. You know you owe them an apology, but every time you reach for the phone, you wonder how the conversation will go. You rehearse your words, imagine their response, and decide to wait it out for another day.

It’s hard to move forward when you can’t control what happens next. Abraham faced that uncertainty when God called him to leave his home. Hebrews 11:8 tells us he went without knowing where he was going. He had God’s promise, and he trusted Him enough to begin the journey.

You may still feel nervous when you pick up the phone. You may stumble over your words. Start with, “I’ve been meaning to call because I owe you an apology.” Tell them what you’re sorry for, and listen to what they have to say. You can ask God to help you before you call. You don’t have to wait until you feel ready to do what you know is right.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Father, I’ve put off things I know I need to do because I’m afraid of how they’ll turn out. Forgive me for the times I’ve let that fear guide my decisions. Help me admit when I’ve hurt someone and apologize without making excuses. Give me patience to listen, even when their words are hard to hear. As I follow Jesus, teach me to obey You while I still feel uncertain.

In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.

STAND FIRM TODAY

Think of someone you owe an apology, and reach out today. Be specific about what you did and acknowledge how it hurt them. Give them time to speak, and listen without defending yourself. They may need time to forgive you. You can begin by sincerely saying, “I’m sorry.”
