They Didn’t Deserve Your Anger

Someone asks you an innocent question, and your answer is harsh and over the top. They weren’t the person who hurt you, but you’ve been replaying that other conversation all morning. Now someone you love is getting the anger you’ve been holding toward someone else.
Hebrews 12:15 warns us to watch for bitterness because its harm spreads. An unresolved hurt can begin affecting how we treat people who had nothing to do with it. Recognizing that gives us something to bring honestly to God.
You can tell Him exactly what happened and why it still hurts. As you remember the grace you’ve received through Jesus, ask for help forgiving the person who wounded you. Forgiveness may take repeated prayer, and rebuilding trust may require time and boundaries. But for today, you can begin by speaking kindly to the person that is in front of you.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, You know what happened and why I’m still hurting. Help me forgive without pretending it was okay. Give me wisdom about boundaries, and keep me from taking my pain out on others. Help me receive Your grace and treat my family with patience today.
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
STAND FIRM TODAY
Notice whether an old hurt is affecting your tone today. Before answering, pause and pray. If you’ve already snapped at someone, apologize and let them know they didn’t deserve it.
