The Food on Your Table

You bring the groceries inside, put everything away, and start thinking about dinner. It’s something you’ve done a hundred times. Between the cost of food and figuring out what everybody will eat, thanking God can slip your mind. Yet this ordinary part of your day connects directly to something Jesus taught us to pray: “Give us today our daily bread.”
In Matthew 6:11, Jesus teaches us to pray, “Give us today our daily bread.” He includes something as ordinary as food in the prayer He gives His disciples. We can bring our everyday needs to our Father and ask Him to provide. That provision may come through a paycheck, a bag of groceries, or someone bringing us a meal when money is tight. Working hard and thanking God belong together. And Jesus teaches us to ask for “our” bread, reminding us to look beyond our own table. As we thank Him for what we have today, we can also consider who might need a meal and how we can help.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, thank You for caring about my everyday needs. Forgive me for overlooking the provision I’ve grown accustomed to. Help me trust You where I’m struggling, receive help with humility, and share what I have with someone who needs it.
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
STAND FIRM TODAY
Before your next meal, pause and thank God for it. Consider someone you could help feed this week.
