I Believe. Mostly.

Mark 9:24, Mark
The “help my unbelief” prayer comes from Mark 9, where a father brought his son to the disciples. The boy had been tormented since he was little, and they tried to help him but couldn’t. By the time Jesus arrived, a crowd had gathered and an argument had broken out, and the worn-out father could only say, “Help us, if you can.” Jesus told him anything is possible for the one who believes, and the father cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” He wasn’t pretending to have it all together. He was being honest, and Jesus healed his son anyway. It’s the “help my unbelief” prayer, and it’s one of the most honest prayers in the whole Bible.
Maybe you’re in that same place. You still believe and you’re still praying, but after waiting this long on the marriage, the job, or the child who’s drifted away, there’s a quiet “if you can” in the back of your mind. Don’t hide it from God. You don’t have to clean up your faith before you bring it to Him. Bring what you have and ask Him to help with the rest. He’s the same God who took that boy by the hand and lifted him up, and He can do the same for what you’re carrying today.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, You know my heart better than I do. You know I believe, and You also know the doubts I’ve been carrying quietly, the prayers I’ve stopped saying out loud because I’ve waited so long for an answer. I’m not going to pretend with You today. So today I’m praying what that father prayed: Lord, help my unbelief. I trust You with what I’m carrying, and I thank You that I don’t have to have it all together to come to You
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
STAND FIRM TODAY
Think of one situation you’ve quietly stopped expecting God to change, whether it’s a relationship, a need or a prayer that’s gone unanswered for a long time. Today, instead of keeping that doubt to yourself, be honest with God. Say your own ‘help my unbelief’ prayer out loud, the way the father did. Then release it into His hands and go about your day knowing He heard you, and that He can work with honest faith even when it’s not perfect.
