Stop Borrowing Trouble From Tomorrow

September 15, 2026
Young woman walking through a sunlit city street at golden hour with Matthew 6:34 overlaid in large text, reminding readers not to be anxious about tomorrow.

Maybe nothing terrible has actually happened today but your mind is already worried about tomorrow..

You have replayed the conversation that hasn’t happened, worried about the bill that isn’t due yet, imagined how someone might respond, and tried to solve a problem that doesn’t even exist yet. By the time morning becomes afternoon, you feel exhausted from carrying things God did not ask you to carry today.

Jesus understood this tendency in us. That is why He didn’t tell us that tomorrow would be easy. He told us not to drag tomorrow’s trouble into today. Those are two different things.

God gives grace for the day you are standing in. Strength for the decision in front of you. Wisdom for the conversation you actually have to face. Daily bread—not a lifetime supply handed to you all at once.

We often want God to show us the whole road because we think seeing everything would give us peace. But faith usually works differently. God gives enough light for the step beneath our feet, then asks us to walk with Him.

So come back to today and look around. You are here. God is here. And whatever tomorrow brings, He will still be God when you get there.

You do not need tomorrow’s strength yet. You only need enough faith to walk with Jesus today.

Choose Faith.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Father, I spend too much time carrying things that have not happened yet. Forgive me for allowing tomorrow’s worries to steal the peace You have given me today. Help me trust You with what I cannot see and give me wisdom for what is actually in front of me. When my thoughts race ahead, bring my heart back to You. Teach me to live this day faithfully, knowing that You will already be there when tomorrow comes. In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.

STAND FIRM TODAY

Notice the next time your mind starts rehearsing a future problem. Stop and ask yourself:

“Is this something God has given me to handle today?”

If the answer is no, give it back to Him. Then take care of the next faithful thing in front of you. Tomorrow belongs to God. Choose Faith and walk with Him today.
