The Plan Changed. God Didn’t.

September 9, 2026
Woman checking her phone outside an office at sunset with Proverbs 16:9: “A man’s heart plans his course, but God directs his steps.”

You can have the whole day mapped out before breakfast.

Then the phone rings. Someone cancels. Something breaks. A task takes twice as long as it should. The appointment moves. The answer you expected never comes.

And suddenly the day feels off.

Planning is not the problem. Scripture never tells us to live carelessly or stop preparing. But Proverbs reminds us that our plans were never meant to become our source of security.

We choose a direction. God still directs the steps.

That means an interruption is not automatically a wasted day. A closed door is not proof that God has stopped working. And a change you did not ask for does not put your life outside His reach.

Some days will go exactly as planned.

Some will not.

Either way, God is still God.

So make your plans. Work hard. Show up. But leave enough room in your heart for God to lead differently than you expected.

Your schedule can change without your faith falling apart.

MOMENT OF PRAYER

Father, thank You for being steady when my plans are not. Help me prepare wisely without trying to control everything. When something changes today, keep frustration from taking over. Give me patience, wisdom, and the faith to trust that You can still lead me even when the day looks different than I expected. In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.

STAND FIRM TODAY

When one thing does not go according to plan today, resist the urge to immediately call the day a bad one. Ask instead: God, how do You want me to respond to what is in front of me now?
