Amazed to Be Alive
Today is my birthday.
And the older I get, the more a birthday makes me stop and think—not so much about getting older, but about the incredible gift of being here at all.
This morning I opened my eyes. My heart was beating. I could breathe. I could see the light in the room, hear the sounds around me, feel the ground beneath my feet, remember people I love, and step into another day of this extraordinary life.
None of that is ordinary when you really think about it.
Sometimes we move so quickly through life that we stop being amazed by it. We wake up expecting another morning. We breathe without noticing the breath. Our hearts beat thousands of times without asking anything from us. We see, hear, touch, laugh, remember, love and hope—and somewhere along the way, miracles can start feeling routine.
Today, I don’t want them to.
God gave me another birthday. Another year behind me. Another morning in front of me. Another opportunity to love Him, serve Him, love people, make things right, do some good, and discover what He still has ahead.
I don’t know how many birthdays I have left, but I know I have this one.
And today, I am simply amazed.
Amazed to be alive. Amazed by God’s creation. Amazed by His patience, His mercy and His faithfulness. Amazed that after everything life can bring—the victories, mistakes, heartbreaks, laughter, questions and unexpected turns—God is still here.
So today I celebrate more than a birthday. I celebrate the Giver of life.
And for every breath, every heartbeat, every person I love, every lesson learned, every blessing I noticed and every blessing I probably missed—
Gracias, Papa Dios. Thank you, Good God.
MOMENT OF PRAYER
Father, thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for another morning, another breath, another heartbeat and another year. Forgive me for the times I have rushed past Your blessings without noticing them. Keep wonder alive in me. Help me never become so familiar with life that I forget how miraculous it is. Thank You for every person, every experience, every lesson and every act of grace that has brought me to this moment. Whatever days You place before me, help me use them well—to love You more deeply, serve You more faithfully, love people more freely, and live the life You have given me with courage, gratitude and purpose.
In Jesus’ beautiful name, Amen.
STAND FIRM TODAY
Stop for one quiet minute today. Feel your heartbeat. Take a slow breath. Look around you. Don’t ask God for anything.
Just say, “Thank You for letting me be here.”
Then go live this day like the gift it is.
