Guidance for a Hard Decision

Hard decisions can make the heart feel divided. When the right path is not obvious, prayer helps you slow down, seek God’s wisdom, and ask Him to guide your next step.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” — James 1:5

Prayer

Lord, I need Your guidance for this decision. You know the details better than I do. You see what I can see, and You see what I cannot. I do not want to move in pride, fear, pressure, or confusion. I want to walk in wisdom.

Your Word says that if anyone lacks wisdom, they should ask You, and You give generously. So I am asking. Please give me wisdom. Give me clarity where things feel cloudy. Give me patience if I need to wait. Give me courage if I need to act. Give me humility if I need to change my mind.

Search my motives, Lord. Show me if I am chasing comfort instead of obedience, approval instead of truth, or control instead of trust. Help me listen to Your Word, receive wise counsel, and recognize the direction that honors You.

I surrender this decision to You. Close the doors that are not from You. Open the ones that align with Your will. Lead me one faithful step at a time, and give me peace as I follow You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. I am facing a decision that does not have an obvious answer. This prayer reminded me to ask not only for direction, but also for a heart willing to follow it.
